Good day everyone and welcome to the July 22-25 version of the “Weekender Blog,” brought to you each week by the Oldfather Group of Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty, with offices in Rehoboth Beach, Lewes and Bethany Beach.

As we head into the end of July, this coming weekend is not very busy in terms of annual festivals and/or get togethers in coastal Delaware, but there are a couple of regularly scheduled events happening at or near the beach.

But this week, we’re going to highlight a couple of different things to fill out the calendar, including some great entertainment at the Freeman Stage and a down and dirty experience for the entire family at Delaware Seashore State Park.

And for more summer entertainment, be sure to keep your eyes open for concerts at the Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach bandstands, as well as movie nights and bonfires on the beach throughout the region.

For sure, there’s always plenty to do here in coastal Delaware between Memorial Day and Labor Day, so take advantage of as much as you can before the summer begins winding to a close. Trust us, it ALWAYS ends before we’re ready!

And this weekend, why not take a little time away from the beach and enjoy some of the wonderful happenings at towns and municipalities all throughout coastal Delaware.

Here are our choices for the weekend of July 22-25 at the Delaware beaches:

Seafood and Arts Festival (July 23). This eighth annual festival is held at the Indian River Marina and spotlights local artists, as well as a variety of seafood dishes, in a family atmosphere. This should be a fun day for everyone, so be sure to come hungry and be ready to look at some great local art. The 8th Annual Seafood and Arts Festival is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday, July 23, at the Indian River Marina. Call 302-227-6991 for more information.

Milton Farmer’s Market Peach Festival (July 22). The Milton Farmer’s Market is held weekly at the Dogfish Head Craft Brewery site, and this week features the annual peach festival. Enjoy peach infused offerings from nearly two dozen vendors, while enjoying the atmosphere at Dogfish Head. Culinary offerings this Friday include peach salsa, peach pies, peach cupcakes, pickled peaches and Dogfish Head Peche beer, among others. The market is open from 3 to 6 p.m. Visit www.miltondefarmersmarket.org for more information.

Squid Dissection: From Pen to Ink! (July 22). Now here’s something that may not normally be on your coastal Delaware itinerary, but worth considering just the same if you’re in search of something different to do this weekend. Visit Delaware Seashore State Park this Friday from 2 to 3 p.m. and allow a park naturalist to help you study and dissect one of the special creatures of the sea. And at the end, you can cook up your subject and enjoy some calamari. Now there’s something you can’t do every day! This special program is for ages 8 and up and there is a nominal $8 charge. Visit Delaware Seashore State Park for more information.

Freeman Stage Entertainment (July 21-23). As there is throughout the summer season, this weekend features some great entertainment at the Freeman Stage, located near Fenwick Island. On Thursday night, “Shrek the Musical” will be performed on stage, while Friday night features “Back to the 80s with Jesse’s Girl” and Saturday is the spectacular “Marvin Gaye Experience.” And don’t forget Huey Lewis & the News in concert next Wednesday, July 27. For more information on the Freeman Stage, including show times, visit www.freemanstage.org or call 302-436-3015.

Movie Night on the Beach (July 25). Held every Monday night during the season, these family friendly movies are fun for everyone. Bring your family, a blanket, and some popcorn to the beach for family movie night! Movies will start at approximately 8:30 p.m. on the beach at Dagsworthy Street in Dewey Beach and Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach. This week's selections are "Goosebumps" (Dewey Beach) and “Home" (Bethany Beach).

Whatever you choose to do this weekend, we hope you have a fun and exciting few days here at the Delaware beaches.

And be sure to check back here next week in our “Weekender Blog” for more great happenings in and near coastal Delaware.

Have a great weekend everyone!
