With the mild climate (most of the year), the flat terrain and the picturesque landscape, being outside and active has become a popular pastime here in coastal Delaware. Walking and running clubs have popped up throughout the area and many of these groups sponsor and/or organize outdoor events to support their operating costs and worthwhile charitable organizations.
And sometimes, they're just for fun!
Since it has become so popular here at the Delaware beaches, and because we want to keep you aware of what's happening here in our area of the world, we've decided to publish an entry once a month on our blog page with all of the fitness events coming up in the next few weeks.
The image below, from a feature story in the May 2008 issue of Delaware Beach Life magazine, highlighted the popularity, and importance, of these local running groups and helped energize the fitness boom in coastal Delaware. It provided a good overview of the running/walking culture and gave readers a chance to see just how many people were involved in the fitness craze back then, and still are today.
When you're done reviewing events that are coming up later this month, be sure to also check the helpful links we've included at the bottom of this page. If you're interested in becoming involved in the running and/or walking community, these organizations are a good place to start.
